The Tottenham midfielder has been discussing the Argentine after his Europa League hat-trick.
Indeed, the 23-year-old netted a hat-trick against Monaco in Europe on Thursday night and Bentaleb is pleased Lamela is finally showing off his ability at White Hart Lane.
This campaign in general has been a much better one for the forward, even if he still has plenty of room for improvement in north London.
The Algerian told the Tottenham site: "Very pleased! He’s been working hard on his finishing at the training ground and his hard work has paid off. I’m so glad for him because now we can see what his capabilities are.
"When he first arrived at the club he had a hard time but now we can see what a player he is and what he can bring to the team."
Lamela still has his critics, of course, and his biggest achievements have still arguably come in the Europa League as opposed to the Premier League.
But the Argentine has certainly improved his Tottenham form this season and could well play a big part in the remainder of the campaign.
Spurs now have a genuine competition for places in the final third, with Mousa Dembele, Christian Eriksen, Heung-Min Son, Clinton Njie and more all fighting for a place in the starting XI.
If Mauricio Pochettino starts him, will Lamela shine again v Newcastle this weekend?
