Tottenham Hotspur winger Nacer Chadli has admitted to the Daily Star that he is frustrated with the way his season has gone so far.
Chadli has been out of action since the middle of October, after he picked up an injury, and he has had to watch from the sidelines as his team have made an impressive start to their season.
The Belgian winger is understandably delighted to see the way the squad has progressed, but he is disappointed that he has not been able to be a part of it.
“It’s frustrating to be out but the team did very well in the league and the Europa League,” he said. “We are improving a lot.”
Chadli is set to make his return for Tottenham in their Europa League match against Monaco on Thursday evening.
The 26-year-old may not be fully match sharp, given his lengthy absence, but Chadli insists that he is capable of making an impact.
“I am ready now,” he added. “Hopefully I can bring something. We are on a good run. We win games more easily than in the past and we are hard to beat. But we want to improve.”
Chadli blossomed last season in a Tottenham shirt, and he was a fairly frequent scorer for the team.
His return to fitness increases the Lilywhites’ attacking threat and gives Mauricio Pochettino more options to take advantage of.
Chadli is also in the luxury scenario of being able to make his comeback in a match where there is little pressure on his side.
Tottenham have already qualified from their Europa League group, meaning they are playing mostly for pride against Monaco this evening.
