Newcastle United won their last fixture 2-0 against Liverpool.
Both Cisse and De Jong have struggled for appearances this term, and they have been handed peripheral roles by Steve McClaren.
However, they started against Liverpool and worked well in tandem up front, helping Newcastle to pick up an important victory.
And Elliot said: “I think we showed against Liverpool that the personnel – obviously Siem (de Jong) and Papiss (Cisse) haven’t played a lot recently – but they came in and did brilliantly for us, as did the lads off the bench, then Gini (Wijnaldum) just finished off the chances.”
De Jong was making his first start for Newcastle this season in the match against Liverpool, after what has been a frustrating campaign.
The Dutch international has been overlooked by McClaren on regular occasions, but he will hope to get a run of matches under his belt now.
Cisse, meanwhile, has fallen to third choice striker at St. James’ Park, but he showed his quality last weekend.
Newcastle will hope that they can carry the momentum they have gathered from beating Liverpool into their next fixture against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Magpies’ season so far has been plagued by inconsistency, but if they are able to avoid defeat at White Hart Lane, they could move out of the relegation zone.
