Vice-president confirms 'serious offer' for 21 goal strike target Jonathan Calleri interesting Premier League clubs

Tottenham and Chelsea have been linked to Jonathan Calleri this week.

The chase for Boca Juniors striker Jonathan Calleri is hotting up.

Spanish newspaper Marca reported this week the Premier League is his most likely destination, with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur heading the queue.

Arsenal and Newcastle are also credited with interest in the 22-year-old Argentine, who would not require a work permit as he holds an Italian passport.

Now Boca Juniors club vice-president Royco Ferrari has confirmed an offer has been submitted, but declined to confirm who from.

Ferrari is quoted by Italian website Tuttomercatoweb, who cite Radio ESPN, stating: "There is a serious offer for Calleri , but we'll try to hold it for him to play with us in the Copa Libertadores."

The Libertadores runs until next summer, suggesting Boca prefer not to sell during the upcoming European transfer window in January.

Whether or not it happens is likely to depend on how hard the player pushes, or if interested clubs are prepared to sign a deal, which allows him to be loaned back to the Argentine giants for the remainder of the campaign.

With a serious offer on the table, the interested club will want an answer sooner rather than later, so if unsuccessful they can re-direct the money towards another transfer target.
