The winger struggled during his time at Elland Road.
Sunderland were pictured in first-team training yesterday ahead of their weekend tie with Watford at the Stadium of Light.
The cameras were down at the Academy of Light yesterday and they took plenty of pics of the Sunderland first-team taking part in some head tennis exercises under boss Sam Allardyce.
One face who was certainly a sight for sore eyes was Will Buckley. Buckley has not been seen much around Sunderland since he arrived back at the club from an unsuccessful loan spell at Leeds United.
Buckley returned to Sunderland from Leeds when Liam Bridcutt headed the other way. Leeds signed him under former boss Uwe Rosler - who was desperate to get players in to fit his 4-3-3 formation.
It made sense for Buckley to return. He had not played for Leeds since a 1-1 draw with Bolton Wanderers on the 24th October and his impact at Elland Road was certainly minimal.
Now he is back in training with Sunderland hoping to put his Leeds troubles behind him and force his way back into the Sunderland first-team under Allardyce.
