With all the talk of John Stones this summer, Kurt Zouma could have been forgiven for feeling a little forgotten.
At 21, the Chelsea centre-back is one for the future - yet here was a defender of the same age being discussed as the next big thing for the Blues.
With John Terry and Gary Cahill also ahead of him in the pecking order, the Frenchman needed to show a little patience if he was going to make an impact at Stamford Bridge this season.
All that seemed in the past on Wednesday night, though, with the youngster delivering a measured and assured display that left many Chelsea fans in awe.
Indeed, Willian continued to earn the plaudits, while Nemanja Matic also impressed for the west London outfit against Porto in the Champions League. But there was a huge amount of praise for 21-year-old Zouma from Chelsea fans - especially on Twitter.
John Terry functioned well alongside the French centre-back and there have been plenty of suggestions on social media that Zouma and Terry could be the way forward for Jose Mourinho (despite the fact Gary Cahill has recently signed a long-term contract at Stamford Bridge!). Here's how Chelsea fans reacted to Zouma's Porto display...
Terry & Zouma were magnificent. Rock solid. #CFC— Murtaza Poonawalla (@poonawalamurtaz) December 9, 2015
Zouma looked so much more confident under Terry's guidance then Cahill. By far our strongest defensive pairing #CFC— Dale (@DPCFC) December 9, 2015
Zouma is a Dimond, more time with JT and he's one of the best defenders in the world #cfc— yazan abbadi (@yazan_abbadi92) December 9, 2015
Zouma with some top stuff. Rest of defence very good. Class open-play finish Willian - needs to do more of that #cfc— Josh Robinson (@RobboandChels) December 9, 2015
