Birmingham City have stolen a march in the race to sign in-demand Weston-super-Mare striker Bradley Ash, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Ash has been watched by scouts from up to 30 Football League clubs already this season after catching the eye for Weston-super-Mare.
Scouts from most clubs have now been deployed to find the best young talents outside the professional ranks following the success of Jamie Vardy in working his way up fron non-league to the Premier League, and Ash is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in the lower leagues.
The highly-rated 19-year-old has scored 14 goals in 13 starts for the Vanarama National League South strugglers so far this term.
The former Bristol City trainee has notched seven goals in his last six games and his performances have brought him to the attention of clubs higher up the football pyramid.
However, Birmingham City are hoping to win the chase for Ash and have invited the talented forward for a two-week trial at St Andrew's.
Birmingham boss Gary Rowett and his coaching staff are keen to have a look at Ash at close quarters and if he impresses during his stint, he could be offered a deal by the Blues.
