The talented 20-year-old is predominantly a left-back and has burst on to the scene over the past 18 months, earning international recognition with Russia.
His superb displays haven’t gone unnoticed and interest is said to be present with a number of Bundesliga clubs monitoring his progress carefully.
“Southampton will lead a posse of English clubs watching Rubin Kazan’s Elmir Nabiullin in the Europa League on Thursday,” the report reads.
Southampton are currently well-stocked at left-back as first-teamer Ryan Bertrand is backed up by the impressive Matt Targett who at 20 has a big future ahead of him.
Yet the opportunity to boost their squad certainly shouldn’t go amiss and boss Ronald Koeman is always looking to make improvements, even if it comes at a cost to a popular player.
Nabiullin has made 43 league appearances for Kazan since breaking through into the first-team, and his debut for the Russian national team came earlier this year in a friendly against Kazakhstan.
The talented youngster has already featured against Premier League opposition this season, starting both of his side’s matches against Liverpool in the Europa League.
He particularly impressed at Anfield, posting four interceptions and two clearances as Kazan drew 1-1.
