Everton are reportedly interested in Bolton youngster Zach Clough.

According to the Daily Mail, Everton are in the race to sign Bolton Wanderers prospect Zach Clough, but face competition from Bournemouth and Southampton.

The Toffees have made a habit of signing talented young Football League stars, having landed John Stones, Mason Holgate, Matty Foulds and Brendan Galloway in recent memory.

Manager Roberto Martinez may now be looking for yet another Football League prospect, with Bolton Wanderers' Zach Clough their latest target.

The Daily Mail report that Everton have an interest in Clough, despite the fact that he has been out injured for almost three months now due to a shoulder injury.

The 20-year-old has come up through the ranks with Bolton, and having impressed last season, the diminutive playmaker certainly caught the eye of Premier League scouts.

Bolton's major problem is that they are cash-strapped, and are currently facing up to the possibility of a winding-up order according to the report from the Daily Mail, so selling one of their most valuable assets has to be under consideration at the Macron Stadium.

With Bournemouth and Southampton also allegedly interested in Clough, Everton may have to move quickly to land him - but given the success of recent Football League starlets once they move to Goodison Park, Martinez may well be confident of landing his man.
