Liverpool fans react on Twitter to Manchester United's Champions League disaster

Liverpool fans felt a certain sense of Karma as Manchester United were knocked out at the Champions League group stage.

It seems things are going in circles for Manchester United and Liverpool. The season before last, Reds fans mocked United for their failure to qualify for the Champions League.

Last term, with no European football to speak of, United fans took much delight in watching Liverpool fall apart in the same competition - as early as the group stage.

Now, we're back to Liverpool fans, among many others, mocking Manchester United.

Indeed, the fact the Old Trafford outfit were knocked out at the same stage as the Reds the season before - with an even easier group at their behest - was not lost on the Anfield faithful.

Naturally, then, Liverpool fans had a field day on Twitter on Wednesday, the day after United were beaten 3-2 at home by Wolfsburg to seal their Champions League fate. They are no doubt still making fun of their fierce rivals on social media this very second...

The irony, of course, is that Manchester United now face the same fate as Liverpool: Europa League football on Thursday nights. Here's a selection of what Reds supporters had to say about that...
