Joel Campbell helped Arsenal to a decisive win over former loan side Olympiakos.
Joel Campbell came back to haunt former club Olympiakos as he helped eliminate the Greek side from the Champions League.
The Costa Rica international played a key role in the 3-0 win which took the Gunners into the last 16 of the competition.
Arsenal needed a 2-0 win to qualify for the knockout phase, and exceeded that target with an Olivier Giroud hat-trick.
Campbell provided an assist for Giroud's second goal, and had BT Sport host Gary Lineker stunned.
He took to Twitter to praise the Arsenal attacker, also complementing the goalscorer.
That was bloody brilliant play from Campbell, finished exquisitely by Giroud. This has the makings of being a special performance.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) December 9, 2015
It was a special performance indeed, turning around an awful start to their Champions League campaign.
Campbell very much now looks the part in the first team, proving capable of contributing on the big stage.
It would have been easy for Arsene Wenger to send him back to the sidelines after an ineffective display against Sheffield Wednesday a month ago, but he has shown the Frenchman was right to stick with him.
