The Serbian winger is currently out on loan but with the right guidance he could excel at Liverpool for the next 10 years.
New Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has wasted little time working his magic on some of the club’s players, with Divock Origi and Jordon Ibe in particular looking reinvigorated since the German took charge.
Origi threw off the shackles to score a hat-trick against Southampton in the Capital One Cup while Ibe has looked wonderful in the matches he has played under Klopp to date. So who could be the next to benefit from the former Borussia Dortmund boss’s presence?
Lazar Markovic is a definite contender, with the young Serbian winger arriving at Anfield with an impressive reputation only to fall short in his appearances to date.
The 21-year-old is currently on loan at Turkish club Fenerbahce where he has played nine times, providing one assist in the process. And while Markovic will not feature for Liverpool until at least the summer, he has the talent to be a huge success if Klopp can utilise him effectively and fill him with confidence.
Some Liverpool fans are already writing Markovic off but that would be foolish. There is no doubt he had a poor start to life on Merseyside but he is young, and Klopp knows better than most how to get the best out of such talent.
