Bundesliga expert Fjortoft comments on Grosskreutz’s reported Liverpool deal

Liverpool have been linked with Galatasaray star Kevin Grosskreutz.

Bundesliga expert Jan Aage Fjortoft has dismissed the rumours suggesting Liverpool have agreed terms with Galatsaray star Kevin Grosskreutz, while posting on Twitter.

According to a report in the Turkish editorial Takvim, Grosskreutz has allegedly agreed a three-year deal with the Reds and will become Jurgen Klopp’s first signing at the club.

The versatile winger joined Galatasaray from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, yet after failing to submit the paperwork on time, the player is ineligible to play for the Turkish giants until January.

Should a deal with Liverpool proceed, the German World Cup winner would have bizarrely failed to feature for Galatasaray in any competition despite only joining the club over the summer.

The report in Takvim suggests that Grosskreutz hasn’t settled and wants to return closer to home, yet Bundesliga expert Fjortoft can’t see a potential switch to Liverpool happening.

Grosskreutz, 27, is well-known for his energetic style of play at Dortmund, as he featured 176 times in the Bundesliga over a six-year period under then-boss Jurgen Klopp.

However, last season he was used more sparingly and his goal threat seemingly dried up, failing to net in 17 league appearances as Dortmund struggled for much of the campaign.

Capped five times by the German national team, he would certainly bring something new to the Reds in terms of a genuine threat from wide areas, yet Liverpool fans shouldn’t get their hopes up just yet.
