Leeds United will face Rotherham United at Elland Road in the FA Cup third-round tie.

Leeds United head coach Steve Evans has admitted to BBC Radio Leeds that he would have wanted one of the top teams in English football in the FA Cup third round.

The Whites will face Championship rivals Rotherham United at Elland Road in the third round of the prestigious cup competition.

Evans is looking forward to the clash against his former club, but he has admitted that he would have preferred to face one of the top three or four teams in England.

“We would all have liked to have hosted one of the big three or four in English football at the present time as they would be coming to another huge club,” the Scot told BBC Radio Leeds when asked if he would have wanted a more glamorous opponent than Rotherham in the FA Cup third round.

“But the opportunity is still there for us to make progress in the cup. We have to be focused.”

Leeds faced Rotherham at Elland Road in the Championship last month and lost the encounter 1-0.

While the Millers may not be glamorous opponents, they are certainly capable of winning the FA Cup third-round tie.

Former Leeds head coach Neil Redfearn will certainly want Rotherham to win yet again at Elland Road.

Rotherham are second from bottom in the Championship table at the moment, while Leeds are currently six points above the relegation zone.
