Report: Peterborough United keen to extend Leicester City defender Callum Elder's loan

Leicester City defender Callum Elder has impressed during his loan spell at Peterborough United.

According to a report in the Peterborough Evening Telegraph, Peterborough United intend to open discussions with Leicester City over extending the loan of Callum Elder.

The left-back has been with Posh for much of the season so far, but his current deal expires in January.

Graham Westley is eager to keep Elder about for the long-term, and Peterborough are hopeful of doing a deal with the Foxes soon.

Elder has played an important role for Posh ever since he arrived at the ABAX Stadium.

The Australian defender has taken over from the injured Kgosi Ntlhe in Peterborough’s starting line-up, and his performance have been lauded by supporters and teammates alike.

Posh winger Jon Taylor praised Elder’s ability on Twitter, after the 20-year-old set-up Conor Washington’s goal in a 2-0 win over Luton Town at the weekend.

Peterborough fans have also been very taken by Elder’s performances, with his rampaging style catching the eye.

The Leicester prospect has shown great ability going forward, while he has also remained solid defensively.

Elder has helped Posh become the top scoring team in England, with Graham Westley’s side currently stationed in the League One play-off places.
