Photos: Townsend and Winks in action as Tottenham Under-21's lose to Southampton

Tottenham Under-21's were beaten 2-0 by Southampton on Sunday.

Tottenham Hotspur's Under-21's fell to a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Southampton at Stevenage's Broadhall Way stadium on Monday night.

The Spurs first team may be firing on all cylinders in the Premier League, but the youngsters and fringe players couldn't follow suit against Southampton.

A goal in each half from left back Matt Targett and winger Josh Sims handed the Saints a win in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League, consigning Spurs to defeat.

Once again, the biggest name on show was England international winger Andros Townsend, who is playing for the Tottenham Under-21's in a bid to recapture some form and fitness, having been frozen out of the first team by manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Other notable names such as Milos Veljkovic, Harry Winks, Shaquille Coulthirst and Cameron Carter-Vickers all played their part in the game, as they look to make an impression on boss Pochettino, who has shown that he is willing to give chances to young players.

It proved to be a bad night for Ugo Ehiogu's Under-21 side, and here are some of the best images from the game, featuring the likes of Townsend, Winks, Coulthirst, Filip Lesniak, Anthony Georgiou, Anton Walkes, Kyle Walker-Peters and William Miller...
