Ivan Toney has told Barnsley’s official website that he is loving life at Oakwell.
Toney signed for the League One outfit from Newcastle United last month, and he has impressed during his initial appearances.
The two clubs have now agreed to extend the move until January, and Toney says that he is delighted to be staying with Barnsley a little longer.
“I’ve settled in very well over the past month and I’m really enjoying my time here, so I’m really pleased to extend my stay," he said.
"The lads and the staff are a great bunch and made me feel welcome, so it was an easy decision to make when the opportunity came along to stay at Barnsley. It was an incredible feeling to get my first goal on Saturday, and I feel that there is a lot more to come from me.”
Toney has stepped straight into Barnsley’s line-up, and he seems to be settling into his role well now.
The 19-year-old has made six appearances for the Tykes so far, and he scored his first goal in his latest outing against Wigan Athletic.
With Toney unlikely to break into Newcastle’s first team this season, Steve McClaren has allowed him to extend his stay, and the pacey forward will be hoping to build on his first strike.
Barnsley are currently sitting at the bottom of the League One table, but they have lost just one of their last four matches in all competitions – giving their supporters some cause for optimism.
