Borussia Dortmund are ready to sell Neven Subotic in January, BILD reports.
The centre-back has not featured much this season, with new head coach Thomas Tuchel selecting Subotic for just two Bundesliga games, and one Europa League fixture.
The 26-year-old has spent time on the sidelines through injury, but the BILD report explains that, with the correct offer, Dortmund will willingly accept the centre-back’s departure in the January transfer window.
It was Jurgen Klopp who signed Subotic for Mainz, and then took him to Dortmund in 2008, and now that he is up for sale, the German boss should look to bring the Serbian defender to Liverpool in January.
The central defensive area is one lacking in real quality, with Mamadou Sakho the only truly top class centre-back Klopp can call upon.
No other option really buys into the high pressing system which Klopp wants at Anfield, and Subotic has proven across both his clubs that he does fulfil all the needs of a Klopp team.
He is also extremely good with the ball at his feet, and has proven for many years that he works under the German boss extremely well.
He is now up for sale, and Liverpool should be doing all they can to bring him to Merseyside in January.
