Wayne Rooney is rich and successful enough to not be bothered about what anybody thinks of him.
As England's all time leading international goalscorer, it's easy to argue being able to feel like this is deserved.
Last night he was at Goodison Park to watch former club Everton take on Crystal Palace in a Premier League game.
Rooney was left behind by United, who have travelled to Germany for a must win Champions League game against Wolfsburg, which will decide whether or not they progress to the knockout rounds.
The striker is the club captain, but rather than fly out with his teammates he has remained in England, and now popped up on Merseyside to watch his former team.
There could well be good reason for him being left at home, potentially to undergo treatment on his injured ankle which is keeping him out of the fixture.
The problem is Rooney's form has been so inconsistent this season - scoring only two Premier League goals - that an innocent family trip to Goodison Park, was an excuse for supporters to criticise him.
Here is a look at the reaction on social media to his return to Everton...

Not sure why Rooney is in the crowd again at Everton. He's too far gone now to even play for them. Scunthorpe is more his level. #Mufc— Manchester United (@MUFC_today) December 7, 2015
Always felt Rooney will return to Everton, this may be a good time for us to give them him & cash for Lukaku. #MUFC— T&M (@TandMFarrell) December 7, 2015
