Liverpool and FC Sion go head-to-head later this week.
Liverpool turn their attention from the Premier League to the Europa League this week as they travel to Switzerland to take on FC Sion in their final group game of the campaign.
Jurgen Klopp’s side is currently top of Group B but they are only one point ahead of Thursday’s opponents and they will not want to surrender the advantage finishing top would give them in the knockout stages.
That said, with Liverpool’s place in the next round already secured, Klopp could give some of his younger players a chance either from the start or more likely from the bench if things are going well.
Here we take a look at three potential candidates ahead of Thursday’s match:
The 19-year-old made his Liverpool debut against Bordeaux back in September and now would be a great chance for him to make what would be his third senior appearance for the club.
Fellow midfielder Jordan Rossiter has only recently returned from injury but he played the full 90 minutes for Liverpool’s under-21s against Everton on Sunday so he seems ready to feature if Klopp makes that call.
If Klopp feels that one of his defenders needs a rest 20-year-old Connor Randall could do a job either at right-back or at centre-back.
Randall has been on the bench for four of Liverpool’s five Europa League games this season and the time is right for him to get some minutes in the competition after he impressed in the League Cup.
