Darren O’Dea has suggested on social networking site Twitter that Everton winger Aiden McGeady will not return to Celtic.
McGeady started his professional career at Scottish giants Celtic before moving to Russian outfit Spartak Moscow in 2010.
The Republic of Ireland international has been on the books of Everton since January 2014, but he is struggling for playing time at the Toffees this season.
The 29-year-old winger was not even on the Everton substitutes’ bench for Monday night’s Premier League game against Crystal Palace at Goodison Park.
O’Dea, who played with McGeady at Celtic, does not see his Irish compatriot returning to the Bhoys in the January transfer window.
The former Blackpool defender does appear to believe that it would be better for McGeady if he leaves Everton on a short-term deal in January.
Everton are ninth in the Premier League table at the moment with 22 points from 15 matches, seven points behind fourth-place Manchester United.
