Crystal Palace secured a 1-1 away draw with Everton on Monday.
Crystal Palace secured a surprising 1-1 draw with Everton at Goodison Park, after being on the back foot for the entire game.
Romeu Lukau, Gerard Deulofeu and Ross Barkley tore the Eagles’ back-line apart, but they were saved by the woodwork, the goalkeeping of Wayne Hennessey, and some impressive last-ditch tackles.
However, it was Palace who took the lead, when Scott Dann scored from a header after a corner from Jason Puncheon.
Romelu Lukaku netted the equaliser five minutes later, tying the game after hitting the woodwork twice.
Palace did well to hold on for the point, and the result will go down as an impressive one of the Eagles given the progression of the game.
There were some impressive performances by certain Palace players throughout the tie, with Connor Wickham, Mile Jedinak, Damien Delaney and Dann himself all excelling, although one player has come under some criticism.
Although he registered the assist for Dann’s goal, Puncheon appears to be extremely out of form right now, and is struggling in open play.
Alan Pardew is sticking by him regardless of his performance levels, sometimes to the detriment of the Palace performances.
Following the game, Palace fans took to Twitter to react to the result, with many discussing whether Puncheon should be benched after a series of disappointing performances.
If only wickham could add goals to his game... He was brilliant tonight.. What's going on with puncheon of late though #cpfc— Ollie Wright (@OllieSmithy23) December 7, 2015
Next few games id drop puncheon & bring in Jedinak & play Cabaye in number 10! #cpfc— Gemma Swagsta (@GSwagsta) December 7, 2015
Puncheon wasn't at his best tonight but people under estimate his set piece delivery and at times he linked the play very well. #cpfc— Jon Sharman (@dj_Sharman_cpfc) December 7, 2015
Good point. Wickham & McArthur very good, Puncheon & Souare not so good. Well played boys, safe journey home everybody #cpfc— Lee (@Nelson_Muntz23) December 7, 2015
I can hear the whole of south London screaming for Puncheon to be taken off but Pardew doesn't seem phased by his ineffectiveness #cpfc— JamesReckons (@JamesReckons) December 7, 2015
Puncheon is like a ghost on that field. Might as well not be on. #cpfc— Famous CPFC (@FamousCPFC) December 7, 2015
Puncheon seriously needs to be dropped. Spends more time doing step overs when no one is near him than he does running with the ball #cpfc— Jamie Jackson (@jacko609) December 7, 2015
I'm his biggest fan but please please please take off Puncheon it just ain't happening #cpfc— Jonathan de la Lama (@Lumunator) December 7, 2015
Puncheon coming in for massive stick on twitter. He has been bloody awful. #cpfc— mike sargent (@neiljung_) December 7, 2015
Puncheon losing the ball again! Poor decision making and lacklustre approach. Period on the bench I think is due #cpfc— Gary Byfield (@GaryBizzle) December 7, 2015
