Andros Townsend played an hour for Tottenham's under-21 side.
Andros Townsend played his second successive game for Tottenham Hotspur's under-21 side last night, starting against Southampton.
The winger has been out of the first team picture lately, but could not prevent the under-21s from losing 2-0 to Southampton.
Spurs conceded a goal in each half, with goals from Matty Targett and Josh Sims leading the Saints to a win. Townsend was substituted after an hour, with the team one goal down.
Townsend did his best to effect the game in his side's favour, going close with an attempt from outside the box.
Townsend did not feature on the bench for Spurs against West Brom, despite praise from head coach Mauricio Pochettino over his recent attitude.
Pochettino told SkySports last week that Townsend had actually asked to play for the under-21s to keep his fitness up, scotching suggestions it was a case of the winger being demoted.
The 24-year-old has less than a month to change his fate at Spurs, otherwise it will be a case of waiting until the transfer window to clinch a move to save his Euro 2016 prospects.
Here is a look at how Tottenham fans reacted to his performance for the under-21 side...
