Steve Evans explains the advice Brian McDermott gave him about Leeds

The Leeds head coach was given some words of wisdom by the former Whites boss.

Steve Evans says he was advised by former Leeds United coach Brian McDermott that he would be surprised by things written about him 'most days,' according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Leeds beat Hull at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon to continue their rollercoaster ride of a season.

But Evans says he is prepared for the highs and lows that seem to come hand in hand with working at Leeds - especially after hearing McDermott's pearl of wisdom.

The Scot is quoted as saying by the YEP: "Brian McDermott told me I’d wake up most days and read things that surprise me. I woke up this morning and there was another one."

Evans was speaking after a weekend that first saw him deny reports that Massimo Cellino told him to change his tactics against Queens Park Rangers - and then guide Leeds to a 2-1 win over Hull City.

You just don't know what's going to happen next at Elland Road but all credit to the head coach for staying resilient and achieving victory over one of the Championship's big promotion contenders.

Next up for Leeds is an away trip to Charlton Athletic and, on paper, one would fancy the Whites' chances a lot more at the Valley than against Hull.

Perhaps United need to be the underdogs to do well, however. Will Evans have another surprise in store for fans this week?
