Newcastle United stunned everybody including their own supporters by beating in form Liverpool at the weekend.
Liverpool came into the game after a rampant 6-1 midweek win over Southampton, while Newcastle had lost 5-1 to Crystal Palace a week earlier.
They won 2-0 at St James' Park, with the result a major boost for under pressure Steve McClaren.
There was plenty of reaction after the game on Twitter, including from former Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton, who has been an outspoken critic of owner Mike Ashley, but on this occasion expressed that he was happy about the club's success.
Great result for Newcastle today. Thankfully we got some goals. Great result. Picking the bones out of it on @BBCMOTD2 later.— Joseph Barton (@Joey7Barton) December 6, 2015
Newcastle's delight was juxtaposed with a kneejerk reaction of the other kind for Liverpool, who had appeared to be flying under new manager Jurgen Klopp ahead of the result.
Former SkySports presenter Richard Keys was keen to point out a statistic emphasising the fact Liverpool are now further away from the league leaders than when the German took over at the club.
Stats eh? When Klopp joined L'Pool they were 6 pts off the top. Now they're 9. @MCATEER4 What are we to make of that?— Richard Keys (@richardajkeys) December 6, 2015
So what to make of it? Liverpool fans should not be worried at all. This season is essentially a pass for Jurgen Klopp. after taking over a squad he did not build, with many players he may not rate.
The time to judge the German will be in two or three years time - the situation in which Rodgers was deemed to be not good enough to take the club further forward earlier this season.
