Liverpool have held talks with Marko Grujic of Crvena Zvezda, according to Serbian media outlet Zurnal.
Grujic was watched by Reds’ scouts on Sunday, seeing the 19-year-old score once in a 7-2 away win over Cukaricki which extended Red Star’s lead at the top of the Serbian league table to 19 points.
The report claims that following the game, Liverpool officials in attendance held talks with Grujic, as they look to tempt him to Anfield in the January transfer window.
After talks, the report claims that the Merseyside club confirmed they will submit a formal offer in the January transfer window for the midfielder, capped at Under-21 level for Serbia. The offer will reportedly not be for anything less than £3.6 million, which Red Star want for his services.
The Reds have clearly seen something in Grujic which makes him a prime transfer target, and having already opened talks with the youngster proves they are trying to win the race for his services.
Two other clubs have a reported interest in Grujic, with the Daily Mail claiming last month that Mersey rivals Everton and Scottish champions Celtic have been scouting the midfielder in recent weeks.
He is highly rated in Serbia, and is considered one of the best potential midfielders in European football, and Liverpool want to beat both Everton and Celtic to securing his services when the January transfer window opens.
