Paul Clement admits that Tom Ince is looking frustrated at Derby County

Tom Ince has scored just three times in 16 appearances for Derby County this season.

Paul Clement has admitted BBC Sport that Tom Ince is cutting a frustrated figure for Derby County at the moment.

Ince was signed by Derby during the summer transfer window, after he showed some blistering form while on loan at the iPro Stadium during the 2014/15 campaign.

However, the attacking midfielder has not been at his very best so far this season, and Clement believes that this is because opposition sides are keeping such a close eye on him.

“He does [look frustrated], because things aren’t quite happening for him,” Clement said. “He’s a player who is very dangerous and the teams who are coming up against him are double-up against him. He’s going to have to find a solution now, to elevate his game to the next level.”

Ince has only managed to net three times in 16 appearances for Derby, and if his ratio doesn’t improve then his place in the team could be under threat.

The 23-year-old remains one of Derby’s finest prospects, but the competition for places in fierce in Clement’s squad.

The Rams have one of the strongest attacking line-ups in the entirety of the Championship, and Ince will realise that he will need to find his shooting boots sooner rather than later.

Despite Ince’s struggles to find his best, Clement’s side have not been too badly affected, as they have been in wonderful form.

The Rams have climbed the Championship table rapidly, and now sit in third place after a 0-0 draw with Sheffield Wednesday.
