Leeds striker Chris Wood named in the Football League's Team of the Week

The Leeds United striker's fine efforts at the weekend have been rewarded.

The Football League has announced its Team of the Week on its official website, and Leeds United striker Chris Wood has been included after his goal-scoring performance against Hull City on Saturday.

The New Zealand international has come in for plenty of criticism in recent weeks for some below-par performance as Leeds slipped to consecutive 1-0 defeats against Rotherham United and Queens Park Rangers.

However, the summer signing did what he does best when he opened the scoring for the Whites on Saturday before loanee Tom Adeyemi doubled the hosts’ advantage, ensuring Ahmed Elmohamady’s second-half strike was a mere consolation.

Wood has now scored seven goals for Leeds this season but with so many of the club’s results decided by a single goal, it is up to him to build up a head of steam and ensure there are no regrets – either for him or for his club – come the end of the campaign.
