Newcastle United defeated Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool 2-0 on Sunday.
Newcastle United star Moussa Sissoko had one of his finest games of the season as he contributed greatly to his side’s impressive 2-0 win over Liverpool on Sunday.
The Magpies headed into the clash drained in confidence following successive defeats to Leicester City and Crystal Palace, yet they coped with the pressure and applied themselves brilliantly.
Liverpool took control of the proceedings early on, though Steve McClaren’s men were happy to sit back, soak up pressure and hit the Reds on the counter.
A key tactic for the hosts was to exploit the space in-behind roaming left-back Alberto Moreno, and it evidently worked well as Moussa Sissoko enjoyed one of his best games of late.

As per the table provided by Opta Stats, the impressive midfielder caused the visitors no end of problems as he posted a number of impressive figures over a range of key areas.
In possession, the 26-year-old took 54 touches, completed 22 accurate passes but above all he created three excellent chances for his teammates via key passes, one of which was put away.
Sissoko has an abundance of energy and despite being tough in the tackle and physically imposing, he has plenty of attacking qualities too and they were on show at St. James’ Park on Sunday.
From a defensive perspective, the France international posted two tackles, two interceptions, three ball recoveries and six defensive duels won as he often got the better of Liverpool’s Moreno.
The win was a massive boost for McClaren’s side in their bid to avoid the drop this season. Despite still being in 18th spot in the Premier League table, Newcastle are only two points adrift of Chelsea in 14th.
