Shay Given and Peter Lovenkrands react on Twitter to Newcastle win

Stoke City goalkeeper Shay Given was happy to see his former club Newcastle United win against Liverpool today.

Stoke City goalkeeper Shay Given has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to Newcastle United’s win against Liverpool at home this evening.

Newcastle returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a 2-0 victory over the Reds at St. James’ Park.

A Martin Skrtel own goal saw the Magpies go ahead in the 69th minute, and a late effort from Georginio Wijnaldum saw the home team pick up all three points.

Former Newcastle goalkeeper Given, who joined Stoke in the summer transfer window, was happy to see Steve McClaren’s side win against Liverpool.

Peter Lovenkrands, who also played for Newcastle, was delighted with the Magpies’ first-half performance.

Newcastle are third from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment with 13 points from 15 matches, level on points with 17th-place Bournemouth, who are ahead on goal difference.

The Magpies are still in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season, but the victory over Liverpool will boost the confidence of the players and increase optimism among the fans.
