Malcolm Macdonald on what Steve McClaren must be thinking right now

Steve McClaren

Steve McClaren is under pressure, as Newcastle United are in danger of getting relegated from the Premier League.

Malcolm Macdonald suggested on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports News HQ on Saturday afternoon (December 5) that Newcastle United head coach Steve McClaren is at a loss as to how to get positive results.

Newcastle are in real danger of getting relegated to the Premier League at the end of the season.

McClaren, who was appointed the Magpies’ head coach in the summer, is struggling to get results at the moment and pressure is increasing on him.

Former Newcastle forward Macdonald believes that the former Derby County and Nottingham Forest manager is at a loss as to how to motivate his players.

“Steve McClaren, he must be thinking: ‘what do I do now?’” said the former England international on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports News HQ on Saturday afternoon (December 5). ‘I have tried being the nice guy, I have tried being the nasty guy, what do I do?’”

Newcastle will take on Liverpool at St. James’ Park in the Premier League today.

It will be a tough game for the Magpies, who will be underdogs for the encounter despite being the home team.

Hopefully for the Newcastle fans, the players will raise their game and show some spirit.
