Sunderland loanee Liam Bridcutt was impressive in Leeds United's win over Hull City.

Leeds United midfielder Liam Bridcutt is already making a positive impression after his protracted loan move from Sunderland.

Bridcutt was playing just his second game for the club at the weekend, helping them to a 2-1 home victory over Hull city.

Just how good his performance was can be neatly shown by the fact he won more tackles in the win, than any Leeds United player has done in any game this season.

Bridcutt's performance was even more noteworthy considering he did not play at all for Sunderland during the opening three months of the season, and is still re-discovering his match sharpness.

The benefits of his display were also seen in the performance of Tom Adeyemi, who was played in a more advanced role in midfield ahead of Bridcutt, and scored a crucial goal.

Bridcutt's tackling emphasises the failings of Adeyemi in this role previously, as well as the particularly disappointing Luke Murphy, who has been dropped to the bench since the Sunderland midfielder's arrival.

Head coach Steve Evans will already have been keen on getting Bridcutt either signed permanently or having his loan extended, and the way he played at the weekend is likely to encourage him to urge Massimo Cellino to make it happen.
