Jack Grealish has expressed his joy on Twitter after Aston Villa managed to pick up a point against Southampton.
The Claret and Blues drew 1-1 with the Saints yesterday, to provide their supporters with some optimism that they are making improvements.
Grealish was forced to sit out of the fixture as punishment, but the attacking midfielder was still delighted with his teammates – and Joleon Lescott received special praise for scoring.
Lescott tapped in from close-range in the first-half, and that put Villa in the rare position of being able to defend a lead.
Remi Garde’s side did hold on to their advantage for much of the second period, but Oriol Romeu’s goal stopped them picking up the three points.
It means that Villa have now gone 14 matches without a victory, but Micah Richards was also positive that his side had managed to pick up a point on the south coast.
Gutted not to pick up the 3pts but a good result on the road for the boys! Fight till the end. Utv— Micah Richards (@MicahRichards) December 5, 2015
Villa’s draw with Southampton leaves them seven points away from safety, and only victories will do – if they are to move away from trouble.
Villa’s next fixture comes against Arsenal, meaning their schedule is not doing them any favours, as they look to pick up points.
