The last time Steve McClaren faced Jurgen Klopp he was sacked one game later

Borussia Dortmund signed off McClaren's career at the Volkswagen Arena.

Newcastle United take on Liverpool tomorrow evening and in doing so Steve McClaren will hope to not follow the same path that happened the last time he went up against Jurgen Klopp.

McClaren was the manager of VfL Wolfsburg when they took on Borussia Dortmund on the 29th January 2011.

Wolfsburg went into the game, much like Newcastle do this weekend, in a poor run of form.

They had won just once in their last 11 games and McClaren was under pressure to get a result.

However Dortmund under Klopp ran rampant. Goals from Lucas Barrios, Nuri Sahin and Mats Hummels wrapped up a 3-0 win at the Volkswagen Arena.

It turned out to be the now Newcastle manager's last home game in charge of Wolfsburg before a defeat at Hannover saw him given the shove by the Bundesliga side.

Interestingly, this might be his final game at St James Park.

It is being reported that McClaren has just two games to turn things around at Newcastle by The Mirror this weekend.

So once again, McClaren faces Klopp with his job at threat. What chance history repeating itself.
