Southampton legend Francis Benali tweets his hopes for Aston Villa tie

The former left-back would enjoy watching another 6-1 win today.

Southampton desperately need to get back on tract this afternoon when they face the Premier League's bottom club Aston Villa at St Mary's.

The Saints have lost three games on the bounce - including their 6-1 drubbing against Liverpool, at home, in the League Cup this week.

Luckily Villa should be a team they beat - especially based on the evidence of this meeting last season.

Southampton were rampant against Villa back in May, not long after Villa under Tim Sherwood had seemingly secured their Premier League status.

Sadio Mane scored the fastest hat-trick in Premier League history and a brace from Shane Long had The Saints 5-1 up at half-time. Graziano Pelle finished the rout off in the 81st minute.

One Southampton legend is hoping for a similar result.

Francis Benali spent an incredible 19 years with Southampton and the left-back tweeted this message earlier today:

Of course Southampton would be happy with just the three points but a good thrashing could not come at a better time given their recent results in the league and cup.

6-1 again would go down smooth.
