The talented Villa ace has been forced to train with the U21s after it became apparent that he went on a night out hours after his side were defeated 4-0 by a rampant Everton at Goodison Park.
Remi Garde’s decision to drop Grealish hasn’t gone without question, yet upcoming opponent Koeman believes the Frenchman was right to exact the punishment and insists the player must learn.
“It is good to punish young players when they make mistakes, they have to learn. You have to understand your responsibilities as a player – that is important to know,” the Saints boss explained.
It’s unsure whether Grealish will feature against Southampton at St. Mary’s this weekend, though one can’t help but feel Villa are a much stronger outfit with the playmaker in their ranks.
The former Republic of Ireland U21 international boasts plenty of talent and has a knack of going past people with ease, creating chances for his teammates and dictating the tempo of matches.
Villa currently find themselves in a precarious position, seven points adrift of safety and in grave danger of not only going down, but doing so with an embarrassing points tally.
Remi Garde’s men need a little inspiration, and who better to provide it than Grealish?
