Southampton will take on Villa at St. Mary’s Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, and Owen has backed the home team to pick up all three points.
“A huge game for both clubs with Villa looking for their first win in the PL since the opening day of the season, and the Saints looking to put behind their midweek mauling at the hands of a rampant Liverpool,” the former Newcastle United striker wrote on Betvictor.com.
“All seven sides who had seven points or fewer at this stage of the season in the history of the PL were relegated; Villa currently have five and I expect them to still have five come Saturday night.”
Southampton will head into Saturday’s match as favourites and will be expected to win with relative ease.
The Saints are aiming for a top-six finish in the Premier League this season and have a better team.
Ronald Koeman’s side, though, have lost their last two competitive matches. Having suffered a 3-1 to Manchester City away from home at the Etihad Stadium last weekend, the Saints were hammered 6-1 by Liverpool at St. Mary’s Stadium in the quarter-finals of the Capital One Cup on Wednesday evening.
Meanwhile, Villa currently find themselves at the foot of the Premier League table with just five points from 14 matches.
Remi Garde’s side will head into Saturday’s fixture on the back of a 3-2 defeat to Watford at Villa Park in the league.
