The England international picked up an ankle injury against Chelsea and will sit out the trip to The Hawthorns.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Ryan Mason will miss the trip to face West Brom today, telling Tottenham Journal that the game has come too soon for the versatile midfielder.
The former Swindon Town loan man started last weekend’s game against Chelsea, but went over on his ankle and as such has been on the treatment table this week.
Pochettino has stated that Mason is making progress but will not feature in the Premier League encounter against Tony Pulis’ men at The Hawthorns today.
“He’s not available for Saturday,” Pochettino is quoted as saying by Tottenham Journal.
“We hope it’s not a big issue but it was impossible to recover his ankle to be available for Saturday.
“Maybe next week or the week after he’ll start training with the group, we hope. But you never know - all injuries are different and can affect you in different ways. The good news is the scan shows it’s not a big problem and maybe he’s available for the next games.”
Mason started the clash against Jose Mourinho’s men due to Dele Alli’s unavailability, but the former MK Dons starlet is in line to return to the team after serving a suspension.
“Nacer [Chadli] is very close [to returning],” the Argentine continued.
“Maybe tomorrow he starts training with the group, like Nabil Bentaleb. They’re very close to start training with the group and it’s a very good thing for us.”
Both Chadli and Bentaleb were mainstays in the Spurs team last season but may well find it difficult to commandeer a place in the starting XI this term due to the exceptional form of others.
