The England international scored a great goal against West Brom.
Tottenham Hotspur fought their way to a 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns today in what was a difficult performance against tough and well drilled opposition.
A goal from James McClean levelled things for The Baggies and in the end Spurs had Hugo Lloris to thank for the result with a couple of excellent saves.
The goal in the game however came from the as-ever impressive midfielder Dele Alli. The recently capped England international has been in fantastic form since arriving at White Hart Lane from MK Dons and scored an excellent goal earlier today.
Toby Alderweireld sprayed a long ball forward over the top of the WBA defence and Alli ran beyond his striker Harry Kane. He still had plenty to do, but just took all the weight off the pass to volley home calmly beyond Boaz Myhill.
It was a goal that certainly impressed one former Arsenal defender. Speaking as part of the coverage on the BBC he stated:
"Alli’s composure, his pace, his intelligence, I cannot believe he was a lower-league player a year ago.
"It’s remarkable, and no-one scores those kind of goals against West Brom."
Alli's rise from League One with MK Dons has certainly been meteoric and Tottenham are reaping the rewards of his excellent development since heading to the Premier League.
If he can get big praise from a passionate Arsenal man, then he is certainly doing something right.
