The BBC pundit is not impressed with Villa this season.
Southampton are currently in a mini-rut. The Saints lost to Liverpool in the Capital One Cup 6-1 this week and had previously suffered defeats to both Manchester City and Stoke City. So luckily the club are doing battle with Aston Villa this weekend.
Villa are currently at the foot of the Premier League table and struggling for any sort of consistent form. They are currently on five points and without a win since beating Birmingham City 1-0 in the League Cup in September.
So Southampton will be confident of getting all three points at home this weekend.
One man who thinks they will do just that is BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson.
He wrote in his BBC column that he simply cannot see any positive side to Aston Villa's game at the moment. He stated:
"At least Southampton do not have to wait long to try to put Wednesday's heavy Capital One Cup defeat by Liverpool behind them.
"They are up against an Aston Villa side who look like they are all over the place at the moment.
"It is hard to say whether Villa's biggest problem is at the back or up front. They rarely look like scoring, but defensively they look extremely poor."
At the moment Villa are looking like bolt on relegation fodder and not many of the current crop have impressed defensively or offensively.
There have been some glimmers of hope. Jordan Ayew for instance seems to have found a touch of form and if other players can begin to up their game then perhaps Villa can pick up some of the points they need.
