The Magpies will host Liverpool at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Sunday evening, and former Newcastle winger Barnes has backed the visiting team to register a 2-1 victory.
“Playing away from home will suit Liverpool against a Newcastle team that will have to come out and play at St James’ Park,” the former Celtic manager wrote on Titanbet.co.uk.
“I think it’ll be a fourth win on the spin for Klopp, as Steve McClaren’s men are in a very poor run of form. Goalscorers – Daniel Sturridge and Christian Benteke.”
Newcastle are in wretched form at the moment and are in real danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
Steve McClaren’s side are struggling both in attack and defensively, and Liverpool will be favourites to win on Sunday evening.
Under manager Jurgen Klopp, the Reds are playing with confidence, and there is renewed vigour among the players.
The Merseyside outfit have won their last four competitive matches and will head into Sunday’s encounter on the back of a 6-1 victory over Southampton away from home at St. Mary’s Stadium in the quarter-finals of the Capital One Cup.
