Gary Lineker and Robbie Savage react on Twitter to Aston Villa draw

Villa Park Outside

Villa drew 1-1 at Southampton on Saturday afternoon.

Southampton's recent struggles continued on Saturday afternoon - but Aston Villa fans weren't complaining as they grabbed a rare point at St Mary's.

Joleon Lescott's first-half goal was later canceled out but Villa still earned what was a promising result for Remi Garde's side. Despite their recent form, Southampton are one of the better teams in the Premier League, after all.

And Match of the Day host Gary Lineker couldn't quite believe it when Lescott did score, taking to Twitter to joke about Villa's opener.

Meanwhile, pundit and former Birmingham City midfielder Robbie Savage - hardly Aston VIlla's biggest fan - also joked about the 1-1 draw at Southampton.

Indeed, he took to Twitter to mock the fact the Midlands outfit have only accumulated six points so far this season.

Can Aston Villa build on their result? Next up for Garde's men is a home clash against Arsenal...

For the Saints, meanwhile, a trip to Crystal Palace awaits them next in the Premier League. It's certainly been a tough couple of weeks for Southampton but they will be grateful to have already had a few points to their name this campaign.
