Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson backs club to win again this weekend

St James Park Four

Liverpool face off against Newcastle United in the Premier League this weekend.

Liverpool are flying at the moment after a fantastic run of form. The Reds have been fantastic under Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool's momentum continues to pick up since Brendan Rodgers left and the charismatic former Borussia Dortmund boss took over.

This week Liverpool produced one of their best performances yet under Klopp. They thrashed Southampton 6-1 at St Mary's in the Capital One Cup in a fast and furious performance.

Which must scare Newcastle United fans.

Dread must be the emotion of the day tomorrow at St James' Park as Liverpool look to continue their rampant form.

Newcastle meanwhile have been struggling. They lost to Crystal Palace 5-1 last weekend and Leicester City 3-0 the week before.

One former Liverpool player thinks that Klopp's men will win comfortably. Mark Lawrenson stated on the BBC this week:

"Liverpool's away form is the best in the Premier League and the other good news for Jurgen Klopp is that his problem up front is now that he has to pick from a lot of players who are coming back rather than the number of players he has out.

"The Reds have got real momentum at the moment. I am inclined to put Tottenham down in that category but Liverpool's is better and their confidence is sky-high at the moment."

He feels that Liverpool will 2-0, but it seems that he was merely being kind to Newcastle in his prediction and many people will believe that Liverpool can knock Newcastle for more than just the two goals their former defender has predicted.

Meanwhile Liverpool fans will grab the popcorn and hope for a show.
