Dion Dublin wants to see Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish back in the side.

Former Aston Villa striker Dion Dublin has advised manager Remi Garde to play Jack Grealish against upcoming opponents Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium, according to BreatheSport.

Villa head into the clash bottom of the Premier League table, winless in 13 league matches and currently seven points adrift of Sunderland in 17th position.

Aside from their failings on the pitch, trouble has also been brewing off it and youngster Grealish has been demoted to the U21s following his night out after the 4-0 defeat to Everton.

But such a situation hasn’t really helped anybody, not least Garde who has struggled to stop the rot since taking over at Villa Park from the sacked Tim Sherwood.

Dublin feels with Grealish on the pitch Villa will continue to struggle, and he has advised Garde reinstate him in the first-team with his quality in the middle of the park a telling factor.

“Jack Grealish has been reprimanded for his actions away from the pitch. I think he needs to be put back in. If he has learned his lesson, put him back in,” Dublin told BreatheSport.

“Villa need his quality in the middle of the park – he can unlock doors. So my advice to the manager is to put him back in, and hope he has learned his lesson.”

The former Republic of Ireland U21 international has the ability to create chances for Villa, but more importantly his presence on the pitch arguably makes other around him raise their game.

The West Midlands outfit can still beat the drop, but they must initiate a good run of form from somewhere and a piece of magic from their outstanding youngster could make all the difference.

Southampton are tough opponents but they’ve shipped plenty of goals of late, so Garde would be wise to select an attacking line-up and look to put their defence under a lot of pressure.
