The club hero believes the time might be right to move him on.
Since then Berahino has struggled for his best form at the club and it is widely expected that Spurs, and potentially others, will come knocking for the player this winter or summer.
West Brom of course played hard ball over Berahino this summer and it is likely they would do so again if another bid came in for the player.
But one West Brom legend believes it might be time to sell the striker.
Ally Robertson told the Express and Star this week that Berahino should be sold for the right price. The former West Brom centre-back, who played over 500 games for The Baggies in a 17-year spell said:
"My view is if Albion get the right offer next month, it might be time to cash in on the young striker.
"The deal may work out best for both parties.
"Berahino has made no secret of his desire to move to a bigger club and better himself. For Albion, selling him would provide the funds to go and strengthen further.
"I think, for the player, it has been a difficult time. There has certainly been too much in the press from both sides.
"If you spoke to most fans, they would say Berahino has not quite been at 100 per cent since the summer, even though he has scored some important goals.
"I’m not saying for one second it is down to a lack of effort on his part. Once you have got it into your head you want to leave, as he clearly did in the summer, it is hard to get those thoughts out."
It certainly might be time for West Brom to consider a future without Berahino. The talented forward is clearly ready to move on and right now him staying at The Hawthorns is not doing anyone any favours.
If West Brom are offered a similar amount to the apparent offers in the summer than it might just be the right time to send Berahino on his way.
