It's been an interesting couple of weeks for Steve Clarke. The Scot spoke to Fulham about taking over at Craven Cottage while still in a job at Reading recently.
He duly refused the role and, on Friday morning, he was sacked by Reading.
Now, according to Sky Sports, Clarke won't be spoken to by Fulham over their managerial vacancy. What a rollercoaster for the coach, with Clarke going from a man seemingly having plenty of options to a man with very little indeed.
Fulham fans are naturally very interested in Reading's decision to dismiss the Scot, while the Royals faithful appear delighted to see him gone.
How could things have been handled differently? Clarke's one win in eight games suggest there was far more to his sacking than simply the fact he spoke to Fulham. But the fact he spoke to another club certainly put him in a difficult position with the Reading board and supporters.
With hindsight, it's easy to say he should have simply taken the Fulham job. But everything's easier with hindsight... Here's how fans of both clubs reacted to the news of Reading sacking Clarke:
