Paul Merson predicts West Brom v Tottenham, picks a winner

West Brom - The Hawthorns

Paul Merson sees Tottenham beating West Brom at the Hawthorns.

West Bromwich Albion pulled off a surprise result earlier this month when they beat Arsenal 2-1 at The Hawthorns.

This weekend they face the Gunners' bitter North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, hoping to record another three points.

Former Arsenal star Paul Merson does not believe they will, telling SkySports in his weekly predictions column he sees a 2-1 victory for away side Spurs.

He said: "Tottenham have been great in recent weeks. The result against Chelsea was a good one for them after travelling back from Europa League action in Azerbaijan.

"I can't see them being troubled at West Brom. I'm backing Mauricio Pochettino's side to win 2-1 and keep their unbelievable unbeaten run going."

Tottenham have not lost a league game since the opening day of the season against Manchester United, although have suffered cup defeats to Anderlecht and Arsenal.

In the Premier League, despite their strong form, Spurs' away record is only the 13th best in the division. They have won only two matches away from home, drawing three and losing at Old Trafford.

West Brom's home form is not necessarily going to scare Tottenham even though they beat Arsenal a fortnight ago.

Their record at The Hawthorns this season is only the 17th best in the Premier League, winning only two matches, drawing one, and losing four, scoring just nine goals in seven games.
