“But I fear it could be further doom and gloom against an in-form Liverpool. My main fancies are 2-0 and 2-1 to the Reds but if Newcastle don’t show up again, then it could be another very long afternoon for the home fans."
Newcastle are struggling for points and for form at the moment, and they are in real danger of getting relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season.
Steve McClaren’s side are currently second from bottom in the league table with just 10 points from 14 matches.
The Magpies will head into Sunday’s game against Liverpool on the back of a 5-1 defeat to Crystal Palace away from home at Selhurst Park in London.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are in great form and are very much in the running for a top-four finish in the Premier League this season.
The Merseyside outfit are sixth in the standings with 23 points from 14 matches, just four points behind fourth-place Arsenal.
Jurgen Klopp’s side will head into Sunday evening’s match on the back of a 6-1 hammering of Southampton away from home at St. Mary’s Stadium in the quarter-finals of the Capital One Cup.
