Gary Neville is throwing caution to the wind and taking up the opportunity of a lifetime as Valencia manager.
The former Manchester United star was unveiled at the La Liga club on Thursday, 24 hours after the news which stunned football.
He will combine the role with his post as England assistant boss, and has brother Phil Neville as his assistant, who was already working at Valencia.
It says everything about Neville's quality as television pundit that there is plenty of mourning for his departure from Sky Sports, with The Times penning an editorial about how he turned it into an art form.
His unlikely partnership with Jamie Carragher became a must watch on Monday nights as they dissected the weekend's performances, and aimed friendly pot shots in each others' direction.
Their club rivalry for Manchester United and Liverpool will never go away, but there is a huge respect among the pair, and Neville used Twitter to comment on working with him, admitting he has come around to liking his former England teammate.
Long but exciting day that one. Thank you for all your messages. Thank you to @valenciacf for the opportunity .— Gary Neville (@GNev2) December 3, 2015
Neville's leap into the unknown at Valencia is a huge challenge considering his inexperience in management but his intelligence and knowledge of the game indicates he has the tools to make a success of it.
As for Monday nights, they may never be the same...
