The Gunners boss is trying to look on the bright side despite their ongoing injury problems.
A raft of injuries to key stars has hit the Gunners over the last month, with a number of star men having been struck down.
They were hoping for players to return , but instead have lost more, with Alexis Sanchez and Santi Cazorla this week both being ruled out for lengthy periods.
Those injuries to important performers have threatened to seriously derail their title challenge this season, but Wenger says they still have the chance to prove their potential as champions.
"I believe first of all it’s always a disappointment to lose the players at an important moment of the season,” he told Arsenal.com.
“On the other hand, it’s a great challenge to take for the team and a great opportunity to show that we are ready for a fight and we can deal with it.”
“The great opportunity for us is that, despite that bad spell, we are very close. That’s why it’s important that we keep our confidence high and our determination high, and start winning again.”
While Wenger’s optimism in the current situation is one Gunners fans will be keen to hear, they will know the loss of both Cazorla and Sanchez has the potential to derail a promising season.
However, they are firmly in the title race at present, with them currently sitting in fourth place in the table, just two points adrift of top two Manchester City and Leicester City.
They face fierce competition, though, with Tottenham in fifth just two points behind them, and resurgent Liverpool also climbing quickly as well.
